Before booking, please familiarize yourself with the following mandatories and considerations.

mandatories

You must be, or wholly and authentically identify as a woman in order to attend The Slow Down 2022 Mexico.

You must be over the age of 21 by October 1, 2022.

You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by the time of our trip. We will request documentation 30 days before departing.

You must have a valid passport that will NOT be within 6 months of expiration as of October 1, 2022. If so, we do not recommend booking with us until your passport is properly renewed. This is at the request of the government of Mexico.

U.S. citizens should be aware that countries can deny foreigners entry if they have been charged or convicted of a serious crime. For more information on entry requirements review the information on www.travel.state.gov or contact the consulate for the destinations you’re traveling to.

It is the traveler's responsibility to provide the correct documents and failure to do so may result in being denied boarding for the flight. Regrettably, we are unable to refund unused flights, hotels, or add-ons because of denied boarding situations.

If you have a non-USA passport please check with Consulate for visa requirements: https://consulmex.sre.gob.mx/toronto/index.php/en/servicesforeigners/visas

frequently asked questions

Can I come by myself?
Absolutely! We encourage it. Solo travelers have the option of mingling with the group and also creating their own experience. Best of both worlds. Due to the sensitivities of the pandemic, we are not matching solo travelers as roommates.

Can I bring my friend?
Yes! If your friend is booking a slot on our trip we welcome them. It is important that you both submit your requests at the same time. Once you and your girl are ready, be sure to select Double Occupancy and name each other in your reservation. If you are planning to come with a friend we do NOT recommend paying your deposit until your friend is also ready to pay within 48 hours as your deposit is non-refundable after that time period.

What about friends who will just be at the hotel?
For friends that will be there, they are welcome. Say hi in the pool or hang on your own at dinner, breakfast, etc. But to be clear, only confirmed guests of Parlour can participate in our activities, take advantage of our discounts and amenities and stay in our booked rooms. The hotel has a very savvy system of managing guests and those not registered with Parlour or with their own booking will not be allowed on the property.

What about my ‘Personal’ Friend?
Same as above applies. Feel free to extend your trip a few days and have a baecation once The Slow Down experience is over! As DC said: “Ladies leave your man/love at home.”

I paid my deposit, am I booked?
You are officially booked once you receive a welcome email from Parlour.

I want to be paired with a roommate. What should I know?
We are no longer offering this service in light of the pandemic to absolutely ensure your health safety. We will resume roommate matching (hopefully) with the Travel Fly Solo to Greece in 2023.

Can I upgrade my room?
Yes! Please inquire if you want to book a suite, etc. Based on availability.

Can I book my hotel on my own?
In order to be considered a confirmed traveler and receive discounts and offers from PARLOUR and participate in our events, you must book your hotels through our travel team. Short answer: no.

Should I book my flight on my own?
Yes! We do not book flights but will absolutely help you with the best options.

If I am in the region at that time, or book my own arrangements can I come to your events?
Our official events, gifts, and other experiences are exclusively for our confirmed travelers. Say hi should you be in the area, but all official PARLOUR events are closed to non The Slow Down guests.

What if I need to arrive later, leave earlier, etc?
We are not offering extensions, however, if you need to leave earlier or later this can be worked out directly with our travel team.

What about the guys?
Call em up! They may want to book a few rooms on their own. But this is a women-only experience.

important considerationS

If you think you will not be able to move freely or are restricted by disability please contact us so that we may make arrangements to the best of our ability BEFORE you book. Mexico does not have ADA regulations like the United States, therefore services may be limited and costs may apply. Contact: travel@parlourmagazine.com. This experience will involve a dance class and an excursion by boat, if you are prone to sea sickness or injury please prepare in advance.

While we have included one group excursions and a few events, this is not a traditional group trip in which you are expected to attend all activities. If you wish, you can opt-out of any of the tours and activities and plan your own adventure. Outside of PARLOUR planned activities, you are responsible for reserving, booking, and transportation to and from any tours, excursions, meals, and such that are not included in the itinerary.

The #TravelFly Solo trip is designed to cater to every style. Some will want to party non-stop. Some want to pool and chill...all day. Some want a bit of both. With that, we allow our travelers to build their own experience and ask that you be open to and respectful of this before agreeing to attend.

Additionally, respect of local culture and tradition is mandatory while on the excursion. Absolutely no displays of rudeness, disrespect or disregard will be tolerated during any of our activities and offending guests will be asked to leave with no refunds issued and blacklisted from future trips.

Though much of the experience, offers, products, and programming that we have will cater to Black women from all over the African Diaspora, this experience is open and welcome to women of all ethnicities.
